Habitat adalah brand furniture dari UK yang terkenal dengan designnya yang modern dan toko tokonya yang tertata apik.
Season ini mereka membuat sebuah project yang dinamakan VIP (Very Important Products) for kids yang menggandeng sejumlah nama nama terkenal untuk masing masing mendesign sebuah product untuk anak anak. Dari Kate Winslet, Daniel Radcliffe (the Harry Potter), Christian Lacroix, sejumlah designer interior terkemuka, bahkan Buzz Aldrin (astronout that has landed on the moon). Interesting..

Le Sports Sac ala Bandung

Seperti halnya beribu orang Jakarta pada long weekend kemarin, saya dan keluarga memutuskan untuk ke Bandung!

Hari itu kami mencoba untuk mendatangi satu factory outlet di jalan Setia Budi bernama Rainbow, yang katanya sih terkenal dengan dendeng baladonya (lho?). Di situ saya menemukan beragam tas LeSportSac termasuk koleksi Tokidokinya.

Bagi yang belum tahu, Tokidoki adalah koleksi limited edition LeSportSac yang sangat populer, bahkan sampai dikoleksi oleh para penggemarnya (coba search di Ebay). Tas tersebut terkenal juga dengan signature key chainnya yang berbentuk boneka beruang yang disebut QEE.

Tapi ternyata saya tidak bisa begitu saja berjingkrak kesenangan, setelah memborong beberapa tas dan pulang ke rumah, saya menemukan dari internet bahwa model tas yang saya beli itu tidak pernah ada. Jadi walaupun bahan dan corak printnya terlihat asli, tas tersebut tidak meniru model tas aslinya alias Aspal (asli tapi palsu) :(

Parents magazine in Indonesia

Majalah Parents dari US telah menerbitkan edisi bahasa Indonesianya bulan ini. Congratulations buat para ibu di Indonesia yang makin pusing dengan banyaknya pilihan majalah bayi dan anak yang beredar sekarang ini :)
Terus terang saya tidak terlalu excited dengan terbitnya majalah ini karena rasanya isi dan foto fotonya kebanyakan adalah terjemahan dari bahasa Inggris, dan muatan lokalnya tidak terlalu banyak (agak ngga nyambung gitu) dan juga terkadang saya tidak bisa membedakannya dari majalah Parents Guide.
Saya masih berharap ada penerbit yang menerbitkan majalah seperti Junior dari UK, atau Martha Stewart baby, yang lebih stylish.

Apartment Therapy has been a very popular blog among the urbanist, as they give endless inspirations for decorating small spaces. And now they had created another wonderful blog, fully dedicated for nursery and kids room, called Apartment Therapy:The Nursery.

Ini adalah makanan favorite saya sejak high school dulu, pokoknya sampe addicted banget deh. Dan sekarang giliran anak anak saya yang 'nyangkut'.
Rasanya manis, crunchy dan bisa melt in your mouth. Sekarang ini Caramel Corn sudah mempunyai banyak sekali pilihan rasa, dan dapat dibeli di supermarket Sogo. Harganya kalau ngga salah sekitar Rp 18.000 an.

Snack ini adalah salah satu produk dari Tohato Japan, yang sudah berdiri dari tahun 1971, dan yang serunya sekarang ini Caramel Corn mengeluarkan produk terbarunya yaitu Milk flavor! yang terdiri dari 3 layer: Milk, White Chocolate cream, dan Milk Powder. Wow heboh. Tapi rasanya produk ini belum ada di Jakarta deh.

Bla Bla Kids

A few weeks ago I saw collection of super cute knitted soft toys at Brown Tree shop in Plaza Indonesia ( just opposite Sushi Tei) and discovered that the brand was Bla Bla. It was not difficult to track Bla Bla in the net and it turns out that the brand was much more than just knitted toys. They are selling the cutest t-shirt, backpack, pillows etc.

The above picture is their latest t-shirt collection. The number of the animals matched the number and the size of the tee. So, 1 is for one year old, 2 is for two year old and so on. What a great design!

Blog-of-note of the week

Since I have been a devoted blog reader for the past year, I thought I would like to share some interesting blog that I have been following.

I decided to do a series of Blog-of-note of the week, where I would introduce some great blogs ever created. Feel free to comment and suggest any blog that I missed.

This week I would like to introduce Wee Wonderful, a blog created by a handmade artist Hillary Lang. She loves to make handmade quilt, dolls and embroidery and she has her own shop selling patterns and stuff. Her website is amazing, with great graphics and illustrations. I have to visit her every week to see what she's up to.

Sticker di rumah biasanya membuat saya stress, karena Monster Boy dan Monster Girl saya bisa menempelkannya di setiap sudut rumah dan furniture.

Tapi sticker dari Apple Pie design ini sangat menarik untuk dijadikan bagian dari design kamar anak anak, selain cukup mudah untuk dipasang sendiri dan juga mudah untuk diganti.

Mereka menyediakan beragam sticker untuk dewasa dan anak anak yang kebanyakan berupa siluet siluet menarik dengan bermacam warna.

This is a nice way to teach your kids about growth and nature. Eggling is apparently very popular in Japan. It comes with a terracota tray and a seed pack of either herbs or flowers, just crack, plant, water and soon your little plants will grow out of the eggs.

POCOYO!

My kids have experienced several bouts of TV show addictions throughout their stages of life. The first TV shows that they love was Elmo!, then they moved on to Dora etc etc.
And now, the latest craze among them is none other than the cutest little boy ever created on TV, Pocoyo! on Playhouse Disney.
This is the one show that I don't mind watching it for hours with my kids, and Pocoyo's voice can stick at the back of my mind for days.
Pocoyo translates from Spanish as 'little me', and he got this funny dance and I love watching him running.
His website is so wonderful, there are games and pictures that you can download and I learnt that you might even watch some full episodes from the site.

Waduh, anak jaman sekarang spoilt sekali ya. Dari handphone sampai Ipod, semua berlomba lomba menargetkan anak anak sebagai market mereka (dan membuat repot orang tuanya :)

Hot Wheels Cars

My boy (26 months) has a peculiar attachment to cars. He got hooked by it by chance, the first Hot Wheels car that he own was from his christmas present, from his uncle. And now, he could not sleep unless he is holding that car in his hand. Don't even ask if he loses it, he will do that piercing, hysterical fit that noone can stand. I had to keep an extra one at home just in case.

The Hot Wheels cars bussiness is actually a pretty interesting. Dubbed the fastest metal cars, Hot wheels had become one of the key product from Mattel company. It had become a collectable items that are so hot that they even made exhibition shows for them. And the car's designer is so famous that people line up to get their autograph.

Banjir and parenting

Banjir sekarang ini membuat saya sadar, betapa selama ini saya bergantung terlalu banyak pada television dan air conditioning to entertain my kids.
My electricity has been on and off, and tonight will be the first night for the kids to go to sleep without lights, AC and (horor!) Dora show.

Bandung dan Parijs Van Java

Sudah lama Bandung menjadi salah satu destination favorit untuk keluar sejenak dari segala kesumpekan di Jakarta. Baru kemarin ini saya ada kesempatan untuk membawa one of my little monster to Bandung, dan seperti biasa tujuan pertama adalah ke Rumah Mode (Jl Setiabudi 41F). My monster boy was ecstatic playing at the playground there, sudah udaranya super enak, banyak kolam ikan dengan ikannya yang besar besar, dan satu playground canggih dimana dia bisa naik naik seperti di Circus (PI Mall 2), pokoknya heboh dia.

Setelah dari situ kami memutuskan untuk ke Parijs Van Java, dan kami agak terkejut melihat tempatnya yang ternyata lebih bagus dari pada yang kami bayangkan. Dengan satu stretch alley, seperti di Bugis Junction Singapore, dimana toko toko di kiri kanannya bernafaskan kota kolonial tua dan langit biru (tanpa penutup) di atasnya. Didukung dengan udara yang memang sedang dingin dan penataan toko toko yang cantik (Mango, Starbucks, J.Co is opening soon), rasanya tempat ini bisa jadi salah satu tujuan unik untuk membawa keluarga ke sana.

My monster boy loveesss the place, especially the toilet area with a small pond and big fishes. (Bandung seems to have a thing about big fishes huh?)

Kidzania Indonesia

Kidzania is coming to Jakarta!... Pasti pada banyak yang bilang "huh?"....

Oh well, nama Kidzania sendiri memang masih rada asing di kuping kita. Cuma di Mexico, Monterrey dan Jepang, Kidzania playground sedang menjadi the new 'disneyland' with a twist.

Conceptnya sendiri adalah membuat sebuah kota mini, dimana anak anak dapat bermain selama berjam jam, menjadi para penduduk kota tersebut lengkap dengan pekerjaan pekerjaan mereka masing masing. Jadi si anak bisa memilih menjadi (misalnya) fashion designer, kasir di supermarket dll, lalu mereka sendiri juga akan mendapatkan 'gaji' dimana mereka dapat menggunakan 'gaji' tersebut untuk makan, main, ke salon dll.... cute ya!

Anyway, Kidzania akan hadir di Jakarta tepatnya di Pacific Place Mall,..yes another new mall coming up in BEJ sudirman area.
